Conventional Oil Recovery

Conventional oil extraction is considered any application where enhanced recovery techniques such as steam or solvents are not required to produce the reserve. The reservoir, typically unconsolidated sand formations, can be anything from light oil to heavy oil that flows on its own. Regent is able to design the completion to match the reservoir, whether it be a 0.250" slot to get sand and oil moving as required in some reservoirs or we can design the slot to exclude the right sand grain particles to optimize production.

Regent also designs what is known as a programmable well bore for bottom water control to optimize conventional oil production horizontal wells. By changing the slot density along the horizontal length, we can optimize by adding flow resistance towards the heel. This reduces the production rate for a given drawdown, but that difference is small and the payback in terms of total produced hydrocarbons can be significant! The lower inflow rate at the heal will significantly reduce the early breakthrough of water and greatly increase the life of the well.
